Early life

David Guetta was born on November 7, 1967, in Paris, France. His mother was a Belgian, while his father was of Moroccan Jewish descent.

He started to love house music while he was employed at a gay club. The good vibes brought by the electronic music motivated him to experiment and try new things. He made his style of recording and producing music by way of studying with the style from the United States. He was confident that his style of mixing and recording will find its way into the international music stage.

At a small local club known as Broad, Guetta, together with DJ Kien, showcased his genius behind the turntable. The two held regular mixing events at the Rex Club, Wunderland Boy, and Queen (now called Central World). He then started mixing popular music in Paris. However, he had already on his mind the development of new music when he heard Farley Jackmaster funk record on the radio. He started recording his brand of sound. In 1992, he met the Chicago-based house music virtuoso Robert Owens during the latter’s tour in Europe. Guetta played Owen’s track and the latter found it good that it resulted in the hit, Up and Away.

Popular quotes

“I’m trying to be incredible. It’s very easy to be underground because you just have to obey a set of codes. It’s very formulaic. But it’s also very easy to be totally pop, because it’s very formulaic too. I’m trying to do something different. Everything I’m trying to do – in my DJing, my production – is about sharing emotion. When I’m making music in the studio that’s all I’m looking for. It’s what matters the most!” said Guetta on what he did to come up with chart-topping music albums.
